Business-driven curriculum at UO Ask a Eugene tech firm about the biggest threat to its success and they will likely tell you it’s a lack of available software developers. Joe Sventek and Stephen Fickas are trying to change that. Sventek, who is the new chair of the University of Oregon Department of Computer and Information Science, and Fickas, a UO CIS professor, are in the process of creating a business-­driven curriculum for UO CIS students. Fickas presented the business-driven curriculum plans at a recent Technology Collaborative meeting at the Eugene Downtown Athletic Center.
