“Artificial Intelligence, Robots, and the Future of Work” – STS Colloquium Series Starts Wed. Sept 14

Date posted: 2016-09-12 12:59:52 The Dept of Science and Technology Studies (STS) is pleased to announce the first installment of its Colloquium Series for 2016-17, “Artifical Intelligence, Robots, and the Future of Work.”  The colloquium will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 10:00—11:30 am, in the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (CBIS) Auditorium.   Wednesday’s presentations are as follows: “Social Machines”  –  James Hendler, Director, IDEA, and Professor, Tetherless World “Emotional/Affective Machines”  –  Mei Si, Assistant Professor, Cognitive Science “Risky Machines”  –  Colin Garvey, Ph.D. candidate, STS “Whose Machines?”  –   Edward Woodhouse, Professor, STS “If an Algorithm Takes Your Job, Then What?”  –  Langdon Winner, Thomas Phelan Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences  The event is free and open to the RPI community.
