Apple hires Nvidia’s AI director for possible work on autonomous auto

It was first believed the vehicle would be entirely autonomous, like those being developed by Google, but now it is understood Apple is producing a regular electric auto with a few self-driving features, similar to Tesla. Following CEO Tim Cook saying that the auto industry is ripe for a major disruption, Re/code reports that Apple has hired Jonathan Cohen, Nvidia’s director of deep learning. Nvidia is known as a chip manufacturer, creating graphics products that are used for video games, but it has also recently been pushing to enter the autonomous vehicles industry with its deep learning technology. His bio doesn’t say much more than ‘I build software, ‘ but Apple’s hire is a bit of a give away as the firm uses deep learning tech for things like maps…
