Apple confirmed Thursday that it bought Emotient, an artificial intelligence company whose cloud-based services can read facial expressions in an attempt to determine a person’s true response to ads, products and experiences. According to its website, Emotient uses artificial intelligence to read emotion through the analysis of facial expressions. On the surface, Apple’s move, reported by the Wall Street Journal, highlights how the company is building up its artificial intelligence knowhow.
