Apple Acquires Yet Another Machine Learning Company as Interest in Artificial Intelligence Picks Up

Continuing its spending spree on artificial intelligence, Apple has acquired Tuplejump, a machine learning company, for undisclosed terms. Tuplejump simplified data management technologies and rendered them scalable and ease to use. Since being acquired, it has closed its doors—presumably the company’s team will be readily absorbed into Apple’s. Earlier this year Apple bought Seattle-based AI startup Turi for around $200 million. The company also recently acquired Emotient, Perceptio, and VocallQ, all machine learning or voice technology startups, demonstrating Apple’s interesting in—at the very least—improving Siri. CEO Tim Cook has stated himself that Apple is more interested in AI moving forward.
