Amazon’s annual challenge for robotic technology has its winner announced

The second Amazon Picking Challenge was organized with Robocup 2016 in Leipzig, Germany. This year’s challenge winner was a joint team from the TU Delft Robotics Institute of the Netherlands and the company Delft Robotics. In the competition, robotic technologies are judged for their potential. This year challenge involved two competitions that tested capability of robotic technologies participating. One of the competitions was same as last year’s that required a mix of items to be lifted from warehouse shelves and packed into a container. The other was a new “Stow Task,” which involved taking items out of a tote and putting them onto the shelves. Sixteen teams from across the world participated in the challenge as finalists.
