Aliyun Introduces China’s First Artificial Intelligence In Cloud Computing

Alibaba Group Holding’s cloud computing arm, Aliyun is launching China’s first artificial intelligence service . The company’s cloud computing and internet infrastructure division has shown more than a 100% increase in revenues over the past one year. In the most recent quarter, Alibaba reported revenues of $78 million from the segment, which shows that it is a growing market where Alibaba can excel. However, its cloud computing arm is only limited to China and lacks a global presence.

The artificial intelligence platform called DT PAI, combines the algorithms which are used by Alibaba. it has learning techniques inculcated which are presented in a simple drag and drop interface. The platform will assist developers to predict behavior without writing a new code. The technology in DT PAI is called ODPS (Open Data Processing Service) can process 100,000 terabytes of data in six hours, which means that it can easily process 100 million HD videos in a day. The technology was unveiled last year and has assisted Alibaba in processing loan applications from vendors. DT PAI will also allow developers to construct a data application in the shortest span of time.

Aliyun is particularly interested in expanding its services to Southeast Asia, US, and the Middle East. However, Aliyun will face stiff competition in the could computing industry from the likes of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Inc. Alyun will need to be innovative in order to get ahead of its competition.
