Alibaba Group Holding Ltd Introduces Artificial Intelligence To Its Cloud Business
Alibaba rolls out first Chinese artificial intelligence to assist customers in making purchase decisions
Aliyun, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd’s (NYSE:BABA) cloud-computing unit has planned to launch an artificial intelligence platform to facilitate its customers regarding purchases. The service, dubbed as “DT PAI,” is designed for data analysis and mining having algorithms used by Alibaba and presents them in a simple interface.
Alibaba claims the service to be the first in China; it is a platform that developers can use to forecast the behavior of users. DT PAI combines client’s information and analyze it for useful decisions. Such a service would be very beneficial for companies that wish to know the trends in customer data and can also suggest users for recommended goods.
If a customer wishes to purchase a product, he can take a photo of the product, upload it on DT PAI, and list down all the functions he requires in the product. The platform, in return, would provide a list places where the customers can buy the product. It is expected that in the upcoming weeks, Aliyun will launch a free public trial.
Additionally, Alibaba has a fast growing cloud-computing business. The largest e-commerce company has a data center in the Silicon Valley and recently established the cloud-computing hub in Singapore. Recently, Aliyun revealed its plans for the addition of solid state drives (SSD) and graphic processing units (GPU). The Chinese retail giant has also committed to invest $1 billion for expanding Aliyun in Middle East, Europe, and Japan.
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) introduced an intelligent personal assistant called “Google Now.” It uses the natural language to make recommendations, perform actions, and answer questions.
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) has made “Cortana” available in US. The application can manage the user’s lifestyle by providing reminders, track important information, and search web.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has its intelligent personal assistant called “Siri,” which helps users to get the things done only by asking. The application permits the user to make phone calls, schedule meetings, and send messages. The interesting thing is that Siri understands the users’ natural speech.
Alibaba now joins the on-going battle between Google, Microsoft, and Apple to have the most updated artificial intelligence system for smartphones.
