The UK data science research institute will receive $5 million worth of cloud computing capacity to allow researchers to carry out large-scale data analytics tasks. Having access to Microsoft’s technology will support the institute’s science research activities in a variety of areas, including smart cities, security, engineering and financial services. Andrew Blake, Director of the Alan Turing Institute, said Microsoft’s donation will mean the organisation’s research is allowed to progress at an accelerated rate.
